Description: DBIA-WPR Design Professionals and SEAONC event.

A joint program by DBIA-WPR and Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC):

The program will bring together a panel of owner, and design and construction professionals to explore ways in which teams come together and operate to achieve success in design-build projects.

The panelists will discuss how successful teams are assembled for different types of design-build projects and for various design-build delivery models. The panel will also discuss the issues surrounding the pursuit of design-build projects, including the upfront investment of time and effort.

The discussion will also cover design-build agreements, and how the contractual framework affects the relationships between owners, builders, architects, and consultants. 

Finally, the discussion will highlight how integrated and collaborative design-build teams are able to achieve successful outcomes for the project owners and end-users.

Learning Objectives

• Understand how Design-Build teams are assembled for different types of projects and different D-B delivery methods
• Learn about the effort and investment needed for successful pursuits of Design-Build projects; Design Professional and Contractor perspective
• Understand how the structure of design-build agreements affect risk, reward, and responsibility for different team members
• Understand how thoughtful team integration will improve project outcomes
