Description: Owner's Council Webinar Series, Session #8 of 9, "Design-Build Process Utilizing Competitive Acquisition ." This webinar will be the 8th of 9 to be presented in 2018. The series is built from the Design-Build Institute of America’s Manual of Practice” (MOP). A highly experienced practitioner will present each of the 9 topics. This will be a 40 min presentation of the given subject using the MOP as the foundational platform. In the course of acquiring the design-build of a facility, an owner must make a number of critical decisions that can influence the success of the project. The most critical decision is the selection of the design-build team. In general, competitive methods produce superior results by providing owners with an opportunity to canvas the industry and select the best team(s) and solution(s). In most public agencies, competitive acquisition is required. However, there are best practices to avoid selecting based solely on low price. This presentation discusses principles, concepts, and best practices associated with the two most common methodologies for acquiring design-build services on a competitive basis.
