LA Metro has utilized the design-build project delivery method for more than a decade and will continue to use design-build to implement critical transportation and transit projects. Currently they have over $6Bil in design-build projects in various stages of procurement, design and construction. K.N. Murthy and Bryan Pennington are senior managers at LA Metro and have extensive experience in implementing design-build contracts for complex heavy civil construction projects. They will discuss how to evaluate the optimal use of design-build and how they procure these large projects. Their transit projects require design excellence, and they will discuss how they maintain an appropriate level of input on the design without accepting unwanted risk. This presentation will be beneficial for both horizontal and vertical D-B projects.
