Description: DBIA-WPR San Diego Chapter Lunch #2, AI DISRUPTION IN DESIGN-BUILD: WHAT’S REAL, WHAT’S NEXT. Join DBIA-WPR San Diego Chapter for a lunch program. Artificial intelligence is rapidly entering the design and construction conversation, but separating real capability from hype is critical. This session explores how AI is reshaping Design-Build project delivery, from early planning and procurement through design coordination, prefabrication, and construction execution. It also examines what lies ahead and how firms can prepare for the structural changes on the horizon.
Drawing on real-world applications across architects, engineering firms, contractors, technology startups, and AEC investors, this discussion highlights where advanced digital tools are delivering measurable value today and where expectations exceed current capability. Topics include automated specification analysis and submittals, generative design in MEP coordination, digital twins, schedule and risk forecasting, spatial computing, robotics, and predictive analytics. The panel will also address data ownership, liability, workforce implications, and how capital investment is accelerating transformation across the industry.
Attendees will leave with a practical framework to assess where these technologies create value today, where caution is warranted, and what to expect as adoption accelerates.
