VDC Planning for Design-Build (virtual)

Date: February 19, 2026

Time: 8:00am - 5:00pm (Eastern Time)

Location: Virtual

Description: DBIA National VDC Planning for Design-Build

The Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Planning course is the first in a two-part series designed to establish a business case for VDC implementation on Design-Build projects and guide teams in developing a plan to meet the Owner’s goals and project-specific VDC objectives. This course is geared toward both VDC and non-VDC professionals. Attendees will explore how BIM-based technologies and processes create opportunities throughout the project lifecycle. The course will highlight the critical role of the VDC Project Leader on the Design-Build team and explain how to identify applicable BIM Use Cases. Participants will also learn how to document key components in a project’s VDC Execution Plan. (4 CEHs)

The VDC Planning course is strongly recommended as a prerequisite for the VDC Execution course. The Planning course provides the foundational understanding of the VDC process needed to successfully implement the project goals established during planning and applied in the Execution course.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify keys to success for VDC Planning on Design-Build projects.
  • Understand why VDC is important and what success looks like in the built environment.
  • Articulate the value of VDC and its synergies for Design-Build.
  • Document the people, processes and technologies needed to implement VDC effectively.

The DBIA Virtual Training classroom is not an “online” experience, but instead a true “virtual” experience. It allows remote attendees a real-time participant experience, fully engaged with their instructor and others in the classroom. Full engagement is critical As such, the following is required for those joining the classroom virtually:

  • You MUST have video/camera capability on the computer you will be using;
  • You MUST keep your video/camera on during the entirety of the training (you may turn it off during breaks and lunch). Each participant is expected to be visible as a class participant throughout the training, just as it would be if you were physically in the classroom;
  • Please find a quiet location that will have minimal distractions/disturbances;
  • Please Mute your microphone when you are not speaking; and
  • Remain in the virtual classroom during class activities as they, too, will take place virtually and you are expected to participate.

DBIA instructors and staff will actively monitor your attendance and reserve to right to decline issuance of a certificate of completion should virtual attendees not actively participate based on the rules above.
